A Huge Success: 7th GenAI Meetup + Hackathon

Great news to share from last week's Generative AI MeetUp and Hackathon hosted by us Neurotech Africa !

The event, which focused on using Swahili AI Model built by Dr. Michael S. Mollel, PHD  to tackle real-world problems, brought together a fantastic group of attendees - over 50! ‍Big thanks to all who participated!

Here are some of the amazing things that came out of the hackathon:

Team NURU under the leadership of Fredy German Mgimba  took the top spot with their innovative LLM that generates Swahili programming code snippets for developers. This is a game-changer for Swahili-speaking programmers!

Team Maudhui AI  under the leadership of Annagrace Malamsha , Edgar Gulay , Shaaban Daudi, Godson Ntungi and  Mgasa Lucas  impressed everyone with their model that transforms Swahili text into visual content. Think "show, don't tell" on a whole new level!

Team Sheria under the leadership of Gabriel Minzemalulu  and Adam Katani developed a super helpful LLM chatbot that makes Swahili legal information more accessible. Huge win for the Swahili legal community!

A big shoutout to the Mentors, Judges , participants winning teams and everyone who participated!

This hackathon is a great example of how people in the AI Community , academia and developers can come together to build powerful AI solutions in Swahili.
